World Book Day Details and Competition - 7th March 2019

1 March 2019 (by admin)

World Book Day takes place on Thursday 7th March 2019, and we would like to invite you to join us in helping your child to make the most of this special occasion.

Nurseries, schools and libraries across the UK take part in World Book Day with a huge range of events and activities celebrating the joy and value of books and reading, especially for children.

This year, we will be focussing World Book Day on the theme ‘Bedtime Stories’.  We would like children to come to school dressed in their pyjamas for the day!  Please still ensure your child wears sensible outdoor footwear (and not indoor slippers).

During the day there will be lots going on for your children to take part in at school including designing a book cover for their classroom door and visiting different areas around school to listen to their favourite story.

There will also be an exciting competition for children to enter at home! See the link below and image attached for more details.

You can join us in building your child’s enthusiasm for books well beyond World Book Day by reading together regularly and joining your local library if you are not yet members.

For more information about World Book Day and ideas on sharing books at home, visit www.worldbookday.com.  Children are never too young to start their journey with books, and the benefits of reading are enormous so we hope, like us, you will use World Book Day to celebrate it with your child.

Thank you,

Miss. Allard, Miss Pantry and Miss Shenton
