Behaviour
Intent:
At Seely Primary, our expectations for behaviour are high and we want:
- Pupils to be confident, self-assured learners. Their excellent attitudes to learning should have a strong, positive impact on their progress. They should be proud of their achievements and of their school
- Pupils to understand how their education equips them with the behaviours and attitudes necessary for success in their next stage of education, training or employment and for their adult life
- Pupils’ impeccable conduct to reflect our school’s effective strategies to promote high standards of behaviour. Pupils should be self-disciplined. Incidences of low-level disruption are extremely rare
- For individuals or groups with particular needs, there should be sustained improvement in their behaviour. Where standards of behaviour were already excellent, they should be maintained
- Pupils to work in partnership with staff to prevent all forms of bullying, including online bullying and prejudice-based bullying
- Staff and pupils to deal effectively with the very rare instances of bullying behaviour and/or use of derogatory or aggressive language
- The school’s open culture to actively promote all aspects of pupils’ welfare. Pupils should feel safe at all times and understand how to keep themselves and others safe in different situations and settings. They should trust leaders to take rapid and appropriate action to resolve any concerns they have
Please read our school's behaviour policy:
Our School Values
We have four school values that are explicitly reflective of our British and global values, underpinned by the ‘4 Rs’ of Rights, Rules, Responsibility and Respect:
Outdoor learning at lunchtime to promote good behaviour:
At Seely, we are adopting the PALM (Playing-Activating-Learning-Mentoring) Scheme to promote freedom for children to explore and play in their own imaginative ways, using found and gathered resources in the outdoor environment during lunch times. Our grounds are limited (lack of green spaces) but there is still room for improvement. As a result, we are providing a range of Play Zones across the grounds, led by the midday supervisors and peer mediators.
